    Lodge #139

1032 Killian Road, Akron, OH  44312

    August 4, 2016

    Dear Brothers and Sisters,

My name is Sgt. John J. Boykin. I am retired from the Sheriff’s office, and I am currently the Membership Secretary of our lodge. This letter is to inform you that we are recruiting new members for our Auxiliary. Our Auxiliary has had a decrease in membership due to re-location and other personal commitments of its members.  We are holding a recruiting drive to increase their membership. Please consider having your adult family members join the Auxiliary and have an enjoyable experience while in the service to our lodge.

What Is The Auxiliary?  Auxiliary # 68 is a subordinate organization of Lodge # 139, and is governed by the State of Ohio Auxiliary. Its purpose is to support the parent lodge and their families.  Their main activities are: Easter Egg Hunt, Children's Christmas Party, Lodge Family Picnic, Raffle Baskets at the Adult Christmas Party (their annual fundraiser), as well as donating to local charities. For a more in depth look at what the Auxiliary is about, I have enclosed a copy of the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary pamphlet for you to read. The Auxiliary motto is “Never Let Them Walk Alone”.

Who Can Join The Auxiliary?  Any family member may join. To qualify you must be 18 years of age or older and related to a current member of FOP Lodge #139 in good standing. You must be a spouse, child, parent, grandparent, sibling, in-law, stepchild, aunt, uncle, cousin, etc.

How Do You Join?   Application is enclosed and/or located on our web site ( ). The dues current are $15.00 a year per member. Membership includes a membership card, an accidental death and dismemberment insurance benefit from the National Auxiliary, and another from the Ohio State Auxiliary. Meetings are once a month, usually on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm. Meeting attendance is not mandatory to be a member. To join, fill out and return the application with a check or money order made out to Summit County Deputies Auxiliary #68 in the amount of $15.00 and send to: Membership Secretary John J. Boykin 1251 Woodland Dr. Uniontown, Ohio 44685      Phone: 330-212-4956   Email:   If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call or email.

Open House Informational Meetings:   We will be holding open house and informational meetings on the following dates and times. We will be discussing how the Auxiliary works, how rewarding and fun it can be, and answer any questions you may have. In addition, we will be giving tours of our lodge and serving refreshments.  Hope to see you there.
